I recently read the commentary section of MSNBC.com, where readers were asked about issues of morality on television. I was disappointed to find that while there are people who are realistic about what to expect from television, others still continue to blame the medium for the "moral decay" of society.
Various readers criticized the wardrobe on "Dancing with the Stars," how TV dramas somehow "promote" murder, and one reader criticized the main character of "Breaking Bad" for his life choices (the main character is dying of cancer and so resorts to drug dealing in order to leave some money behind for his family after his death).
This debate will probably wage on until the end of time, but my stance is that there's a ratings system for a reason. Television and films are an escape just as much as they can be artwork. Use your better judgment.
