    There was a particular sequence during this movie....his film from writer/director Richard Kelly, of Donnie Darko fame, where I had no clear idea of what was actually happening, but I was intrigued by everything that was going on. A lot of the baggage that comes with the straightforward setup of this movie will likely baffle some and seem preposterous or laughable, and while I can agree with some of it, I can still safely say that even with its flaws, I really enjoyed this film and it certainly shows that Kelly is a talented filmmaker.

    This was a surprisingly good movie! They tried to accomplish character and plot development simultaneously, which isn't awful, but it can be difficult to pull off in less than 2 hours. If you want to see it, I suggest that you pay close attention, it's one of those movies that comes together at the very end. It was worth my money to see in theaters.

    In The Box Cameron is definitely very different from any film i'v seen her act...her image is very clean and serious... so it was nice to see her do great work here, playing a character with a particular problem from her past and real emotional weight when dealing with the concept of this box....

    An overall i loved this movie very much coz its unique and different! besides the place is similar with my name hihihihihihi :-) Congrats from me!!!!

    It will grab your attention at first...then about half-way through it switches to a sci-fi theme that does not make much sense. He will always be my favorite Dracula! But this movie was not good enough for him.

    A few things killed it for me. Diaz's accent made me want to kill myself. I thought it was a joke at first, but she kept talking like that throughout the whole movie. Secondly, I thought that even when it couldn't get more absurd, it did. A hint of absurdity isn't bad, but wh...( read more)en its enveloped in more absurdity, I quickly get tired of it. It was an interesting movie, though. Even though it sounds like I said more bad things about it than good, I would recommend it.

    imagine if the adam and eve story and the twilight zone had a baby and you've got "the box", a taut weird study in the moral and personal ramifications of selfishness. langella rules the day (hello!) as a mysterious force of nature - so greasy you can feel the grease on your fin...( read more)gers whenever he's onscreen, diaz drops the easy strumpet next door routine and grows up finally (and is good at it), while marsden is the dumb wondering stolid adam trying to put their humptydumpty life together again. definitely worth your time.

    Just saw a sneak preview last night. I thought it was excellent; my wife didn't like it. Just know that the marketing is a little misleading. It's actually a science-fiction thriller, not just a suspense film, which is what I thought

    Pros -
    Frank Langella, perfect as always.
    James Marsden, probably his best work so far.
    The sublime score from Arcade Fire, best of the year by far.
    The basic concept, tried and tested by Richard Matheson and The Twilight Zone, canno...( read more)t be beat for a morality play.
    The period setting is always appreciated.
    Some genuinely interesting ideas and developments to the original skeleton concept.
    Beautifully shot.

    Cons -
    Cameron Diaz, I'm likely biased but I just don't like her in anything.
    Several supporting cast members.
    One clever idea too many and not enough places to put them; the two square pegs in a round hole issue that Kelly suffered from in Southland Tales.
    Once again Richard Kelly just fails to gel together his fascinating, unique ideas into a coherent narrative (much like Southland Tales) and both overexplains (ala Donnie Darko: Director's Cut) large chunks of the plot, leaving the often delectably ambiguous (ala original Donnie Darko) elements to feel like jarring oversights, instead of the building blocks of a greater mystery for the viewer.
    The final twist competey invalidates the entire basis for the film's existence. There is an implication made here that there is no free will, so if that's the case what is the purpose of the
