The voice cast is hilarious while the 3D doesn't overpower the movie, it's enhances the movie experience. Definitely a must-see for kids & adults.
  • November 22, 2009
Monsters vs Aliens is skilfully animated and spasmodically funny, but you get the impression the film?s seven (!) writers ran out of ideas two-thirds of the way through.
  • November 16, 2009
Not as good as I was expecting it to see. The voice actors were pretty appropriate picks, Seth as a blob, Hugh as a cockroach scientist.
  • November 14, 2009
The kids loved it. It was fairly funny, and had some good references to old 50's sci-fi. Didn't see it in 3D, or in the theatre.
  • November 13, 2009
A meteoric let down. The writers of Monsters vs. Aliens seem to confuse references with jokes. Copyied scenes or paraphrased lines from popular science fiction films, do not constitute a good sense of humour. All it demonstrates is a very unimaginative piece of cinema. The only t...( read more)hing less inspired is the predictable vocal cast. None of these actors deserve the paycheck for the amount of effort they put into this. Colbert is a particularly noticeable stand out when it comes to piss poor delivery. Monster's vs Aliens to cookie cutter Dreamworks tripe. A few decent characters, some mildly amusing moments, but overall, this is forgettable dross.
  • November 22, 2009
It's alright, but not as good as most other animated features coming out. Worth a watch though.
  • November 22, 2009
It was ok, but not the best kid's movie.
  • November 22, 2009
It was good. Not the ending I wanted though.
  • November 22, 2009
I loved the cultural anecdotes in the film.
  • November 22, 2009
took me long enough to finally pick an animation to watch, and as a first impression it was fun, new, but i expected more out of the plot or design alone, as for the performance of the actors...it was great. interesting and entertaining. Not sure if this one is for all ages, seem...( read more)s more inclined towards the younger viewers, but still fun, especially if you need a change a pace like i did. Enjoy!

Nigel Andrews, The Financial Times

This Easter digimation romp is big on action and slapstick, small on charm, tiny on wit and endurability; unless you are nine, when anything goes. full review

As I took off my gray-lensed 3-D spectacles at the end of Monsters vs. Aliens, I felt not so much immersed as fuzzy with exhaustion. full review

True, the story doesn't amount to much, but the plot tends to take a back seat when you've got a not-quite-50-foot version of Reese Witherspoon duking it out with a mighty alien robot alongside the Go... full review

When California girl Susan Murphy is unwittingly clobbered by a meteor full of outer space gunk on her wedding day, she mysteriously grows to 49-feet-11-inches tall. Alerted to the threat of this new monster, the military jumps into action and Susan is captured and secreted away to a covert government compound. There, she is renamed Ginormica and placed in confinement with a ragtag group of other monsters: the brilliant but insect-headed Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D.; the macho half-ape, half-fish The Missing Link; the gelatinous and indestructible B.O.B.; and the 350-foot grub called Insectosaurus. Their confinement is cut short, however, when a mysterious alien robot lands on Earth and begins storming the country. In a moment of desperation, The President is persuaded by General W.R. Monger to enlist the motley crew of Monsters to combat the Alien Robot and save the world from imminent destruction.
