The movie is a hilarious & heartfelt feast for the eyes. Delightfully entertaining and provides a great message: be yourself, no matter how different you are.

The animation is great and really clever etc, it?s just the story that lets it down. Penguin cuteness lasts minutes and the laughs last seconds. That leaves and hour and a half of quite dull viewing unless you like watching penguins fall down mountains and sing crap songs. Kids s...( read more)hould read books instead!

When I first heard of this project I thought the creators must have gone mad. Dancing, singing penguins? God beware. I still felt like that once it came out, but now, on TV, I gave it a chance anyway. The first minutes proved my initial reaction to be right. The idea of musical m...( read more)edley of pop songs is stolen from Moulin Rouge and the forced cuteness is too much for anyone above age 10. Once Happy Feet starts his adventure to find out why the fishes are missing and one or two fun action sequences kicked in, the film gets a lot better. The effects are outstanding and really beautiful to look at. If only the film left out the music and concentrated on the adventure aspect of the story, this could have been an immediate classic of animated film. But as it is, I am somewhat torn and wondering who exactly this movie was directed at. Kids might enjoy it, if they aren't annoyed by the singing as much as I was.

Mumble is a penguin whose father Memphis drops him as an egg and when he pops out he sings like I do. But the kid sure can dance- that's the problem. He gets tossed from his community and sets out to find the "aliens" that are ruining the ecosystem. Yes, the "aliens" are you and ...( read more)me.

Happy Feet is a semi-fun, toe tapping little tale that will keep you engrossed- until Robin Williams (who voices two characters) pops up. Please keep your schtick out of cartoons, Mr. Williams. It's getting rather elderly. Other than the annoying Mr. Williams, Happy Feet boasts a cast featuring Elijah Wood, Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, Britney Murphy, and Hugo Weaving. Most of them can sing (except Hugo Weaving who has a kick ass voice once again).

Directed by George Miller (Mad Max and Babe), Happy Feet does get a little preachy in the end, but it doesn't make humans look like the complete buffoons that animated characters seem to think we are. It's a decent little cartoon that will actually keep parents entertained instead of comatose, staring at their watches.

From the advertising, it looked to me like it was going to be a visual ipecac of cutesyness.

    It did have it's moments.

The first 20mins or so, introducing the concept of a penguin's heart-song, was particularly noteworthy, though it wasn't so bad as to require any FDA warning...( read more) or anything. Also, the eco-soft message is at times heavy-handed (the final, soap-box, couple of minutes of the film could be edited out without any distraction from the story). Yet there was also a little adult humor in the film and the central section, with the rock hopper penguins, was a blast! Which made me think. Without the rock hoppers, I would have found this film unwatchable sentimentality. With them, it was a delight.

If this was Pixar, it would seem redundant to say this, but since it isn't, I will add that the animation, and textures were superb - right up there with the best. I can't think of any animated films that have captured the violence of the sea so well.

That all said, it's not the kind of film I'd rush to see again, but if someone put it on I wouldn't object to watching it.

Pretty good film, but I wonder what it's motives are. I smell a liberal agenda on this film.

This movie is so adorable. I think the animations are amazing and the characters are too cute. Even though it is fun movie it also brings across quite serious messages about protecting the environment
