A stylish, witty, and highly entertaining little horror romp with just the right amount of horror, humour, and gross out. This is Raimi back in top form, doing what he does best!

    Highly recommended.

Homage to old school horror from Raimi which starts promisingly but descends into mumbo jumbo. Nice set pieces and stirling work from Lohman can't hide a plot twist so obvious it might as well have been written large across the screen. Missed opportunity.

I had high expectations for Sam Raimi's return to horror, but I was disappointed.
  • November 13, 2009
Ok, it was definitely cheesy at times, but the visual aspect was amazing. That's what kept me into it the entire time. I jumped a couple times, but it wasn't really scary.

Wasnt sure if this was movie from Jeff Dunham or a movie about me having to wake up and go to work . . it was worse it was another horror flick that just seemed eeeh

I trust Gypsies about as much as I trust being alone with Alex in a dark room with a baseball bat and a chocolate cake. This film just brings up all the reasons why I don't trust gypsy. There has been a big gypsy reassurance in Austin lately and them seem to be every where, sell...( read more)ing there steam irons and smokeless cigarettes.

This was just stupid Raimi horror that we have come to expect from him over the years. Good lazy afternoon movie. **SPOLIER**I think Raimi need to make a sequel though that stars Bruce Campbell fighting the Gypsies and trying to get her out of hell. It would be genius.

Finally, Sam Raimi stops making "Spider-man" films and delivers a fun, scary gross-fest flick in the spirit of "Evil Dead."
Alison Lohman and supporting cast are intense and exciting to watch.

I saw it on DVD, it was a good movie. The ending sucked. Wasn't happy with the last 10 min.
  • November 22, 2009
It is actually more fun than thrilling to watch

There are some cleverly creepy visuals; and the goofiness of some of the gore makes this more entertaining than a run-of-the-mill horror flick. The screenplay has unexpectedly decent character work, but the plot cannot help but be a little stagnant. Will she be dragged to hell,...( read more) or won't she? You have to wait till the end to find out, and nothing that happens in the meantime really moves the plot forward at all. An hour and a half of scares for scares' sake isn't the worst way to spend your time, if the scares feel sort of original or fresh. Will they still in ten years, do you think?

The looseness Raimi allows himself here results in an especially joyous kind of filmmaking, the sort where the filmmaker's delight in scaring us (and making us laugh) becomes part of the movie's fabric. full review

Is it as hilarious as the Evil Deads? Almost. full review

The characters are solid, the shocks are grab-your-heart-medicine scary, the story glides from twist to twist with diabolical grace. And it's damned funny. full review

With the same twisted humor Raimi displayed in Evil Dead and Army of Darkness, his Drag Me to Hell is wickedly jolly and disturbingly frightening -- often at the same time. full review

I don't think I jumped out of my chair this many times before. And I love that (intended or not) homage to CARRIE.

One of the least boring horrors I ever seen.

So sick of horrors that take themselves WAY too serious. It get's to the point you laugh at the movie, and the Director wasn't aiming for laughs. With this movie you laugh, however the Director wanted it. Great movie.

Absolute crap from start to finish. So much for Sam Raimi ever being considered a horror director again. Very disappointing.
