Lucy
Actress, singer, mother and charity worker, Lucy Lawless is the first daughter of Frank (former mayor of Mount Albert, now Chairman of Finance for Auckland City) and Julie Ryan (homemaker and active volunteer in their community). Having 4 older brothers, Lucy often played rough and according to her mother, didn't realise she was a girl until she was 8. Lucy loved horse riding and at school she was always picked to play the main part in plays and musicals.

Lucy had a wonderful singing voice and friends and family were hoping she would pursue her talent. So after graduating high school in 1985, Lucy set her sights on becoming an opera singer, while studying languages (German, French and Italian) at Auckland University she signed up for private voice lessons. But a structural approach to singing killed Lucy's enjoyment and natural urge to sing, yet she wasn't discouraged from pursuing a show business career and found work in Auckland modeling and acting. Her first job was a commercial for Git Away Tours in 1986 where she made $3,500. Lucy dropped out of college at 18 and used this money to buy a one way ticket to Europe with her boyfriend and future husband Garth Lawless. The pair travelled to places such as Switzerland, Germany and Australia where they worked briefly as gold miners. At 19 Lucy fell pregnant and returned to New Zealand where she gave birth to her daughter Daisy.

After the birth of her daughter Lucy returned to work, TV commercials, writing and acting in plays, and 2 and a half seasons in 'Funny Business' before moving to Vancouver to attend the William B. Davis Centre for Actors Study. Lucy returned to New Zealand in 1992, appeared in 'The Rainbow Warrior' and co-hosted a travel show 'Air New Zealand Holiday', but she didn't want to do that forever, so continued to audition for dramatic roles. In 1994 American producers were in New Zealand filming a series of 5 films based on the mythological hero Hercules. Producers Robert Tapert and Sam Raimi needed a woman to play the Amazon Queen 'Hippolyta' in the first installment 'Hercules and the Amazon Women'. Lucy auditioned and was a finalist for the part, as much as producers liked Lucy they were afraid to cast a kiwi in such an important role and she lost out to Roma Downey. Although Lucy didn't get the lead, she played the Queen's second in command 'Lysia'. The 5 movies were unexpected hits and were made into a weekly show, Lucy quit her travel show to play two different roles, 'Lyla' in episode 6 'As Darkness Falls' and after dying her hair dark, 'Xena' in episodes 9 'The Warrior Princess', 12 'The Gauntlet' and 13 (season finale) 'Unchained Heart', now known as the Xena Trilogy.

By the third episode of the trilogy it was obvious to producers that they were setting up a spin-off, Universal were excited about the prospect of a series centering around a female action hero and so the show and Lucy's breakthrough role Xena: Warrior Princess was born. 1995 marked a time of change for Lucy, her career was gaining speed, Xena was on fire and had established it's own fan base with men and women alike, but her marriage to Garth Lawless ended. The show ran from 1995 until its two part season 6 finale in 2001, during this time Lucy married Xena producer Robert Tapert in 1998 and had her first son Julius in 1999, made her Broadway debut as Rizzo in Grease in 1997, hosted Saturday Night Live in 1998 and appeared on The Simpsons in 1999. Lucy's groundbreaking role as Xena captured a global audience and redefined the role of the female action hero, launching her into international fame.

Since then Lucy had her second son Judah in 2002. She has appeared in 'Just Shoot Me' 2001, 'The X Files' 2001, the short lived series 'Tarzan' 2003, 'Less Than Perfect' 2004, Eurotrip 2004 and a cameo in 'Spider-man' 2002. More recently she starred in Battlestar Galactica from 2005-2008 as D'Anna Biers and the movies Locusts and Vampire Bats (both 2005) among others.

Lucy appeared in Celebrity Duets in 2006 and was the runner up, since then she has branched out her career to include more singing, she released her first album come2me in 2007 and does regular concerts, including one in LA 2007 which was sold out.

Lucy regularly attends Xena conventions with co-star Renee O'Connor and other cast members, does concerts, and continues to do her charity work. Lucy will be appearing in 2008's Bedtime Stories with Adam Sandler, 2009's Bitch Slap and Angel of Death.

Lucy often says that she thinks her fans are amazing and have given meaning to her career. One reason for this is 'Lucy Lawless Feel the Love Week/Day' by which she feels "totally humbled"

Was asked by Peter Jackson to audition for the role of 'Galadriel' in Lord of the Rings', but declined because her pregnancy would have stalled production.

Lucy played eight recurring or important characters
on Hercules:TLJ and Xena: WP, Xena, Lysia, Lyla,
Princess Diana, Meg, Leah, Mel and Annie. This doesn't include disguises, impersonations, clones or
fairy tale stories.

The first thing she bought with her money from Xena: Warrior Princess was a Mercedes.

Lucy was caught in hurricane Katrina while filming 'Vampire Bats'. When she fled New Orleans a stranger let them stay in their house until the storm had passed.

While filming XWP Lucy wasn't allowed to wear her wedding ring (which cost $40,000) so she kept it pinned or tied up to her underwear to always keep it with her.

Lucy sat in the studio audience for an episode of 'Will & Grace' while she was in NY filming a guest appearance on 'Less Than Perfect' as she wanted to see what it was like to be in a live audience

Lucy and Rob flew out to NY to watch the Evil Dead Musical play.

Lucy has bungee jumped out of a helicopter and off of the Sky Tower in Auckland, NZ.

Inadvertently exposed her breasts while singing the US national anthem at an NHL hockey game in Anaheim, California between the Mighty Ducks and Detroit Red Wings.
LL: "Obviously, I was mortified...It was quite a bit more exposure than I want."

Lucy rarely had moments on 'Xena' when she put her foot down and said they couldn't do something. But once when her regular stunt double was busy they asked another woman to fill in. The stuntie didn't mention to the crew that she was 6 months pregnant, but when Lucy saw who they'd gotten she stopped the production. She said that she had stunties to take risks for her when she was pregnant, but she couldn't allow a pregnant woman to take them for her.

Lucy's favourite episode of Xena is "Is There a Doctor in
the House?".

While guest starring on 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' Lucy stated that Larry David was quite standoffish, but she was determined to be as obnoxious as possible, so she wrote 'Welcome to the Lucy Lawless Experience' on the back of a Xena greeting card (which when opened screams out the Xena war cry) and gave it to Larry. She said he "loved me ever after. So my advice to anyone trying to get on Larry's good side: Have your own Hallmark card."

The album itself has 30 tracks, but 'Burial' (track 5) is the only one that is sung and also written by Lucy. The song was used frequently throughout all 6 seasons of 'Xena Warrior Princess'. According to Lucy, the tune came to her one day whilst jogging and is just a mixture of mournful words, she recorded it onto a tape recorder and gave it to the shows composer Joseph LoDuca who made it into a useable piece of music
LoDuca: "That's an interesting story. Lucy gave a cassette of her singing a melody she made up to our producer, Rob Tapert. To the best of my knowledge, the lyrics are Hassidic."

    still toying with this idea) for the rets of the first episode and the next maybe 2, and they have to complete some task/quest/obtain something/etc before being sent back to Ancient Greece -where they will be taken back to a time before the twilight and whatnot. (we still havent fully decided on all of this but so far this is the general idea)
    in a Later episode we also plan to bring Callisto's sister into it --we're going to have it that she escaped the fire and harbours a great anger towards Callisto for not trying to save her or their parents from the fire (or something along those lines)

    So yeah...any Suggestions/ideas/or If your interested message me or email Or post here (which is probably easier :P )

    The main Character we really need atm is someone to play Gabrielle...but we also have a list of other characters that we need -which we will add to once we plan out future eps

    Some friends of mine and i are making our own Season7, and we were wondering if anyone lived around Wollongong/Sydney (NSW,Australia) And wanted to be in it, as a main character,extra, or lesser character or even to film it Or if anyone had any ideas for episodes, we wanted to get some outside ideas as to episodes...we're bringing Xena back to life (of course) and most likely find a way to send Xena and Gabrielle back to a time before the twilight, so we can bring back our old favs.. then general idea for the first episode is That Gabrielle arrives in Egypt, meets up with Cleopatra who takes her to see Anubis (probably at a temple or such) who agrees to bring Xena back in a way that all those souls will still be redeemed. But of course the God has a price, he not only brings back Xena, but also Callisto (evil Callisto, as my friend wants to be callisto in it and it was us two who decided to make the season 7). We are going to have them taken to the future (although we're st
