James Marsden mini-bio: Marsden started his acting career with minor roles in the late 80's and the 90's, he appeared as a background player in the popular TV show Saved by the Bell and also in some of the Saved by the Bell movies before switching to more mainstream and Hollywood movies. Marsden lost out to Edward Norton for a role in Primal Fear (1996) and turned down the lead role in 54 (1998), which later went to Ryan Phillippe. Marsden then played Cyclops in the film X-Men and its sequels, X2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand. His X-Men character Cyclops' lessened screen time in X-Men: The Last Stand is due to scheduling conflicts with his prior commitment to his role in Bryan Singer's Superman Returns, in which he plays Lois Lane's love interest, Richard White. He also appeared (as one of the main cast members during the first half of season 5) in the television series Ally McBeal, where he also showed his singing abillities. Marsden later played Lon Hammond, Jr., in the romantic movie The Notebook, which was based on a Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name and is currently filming the hybrid animated/live action Disney movie Enchanted, which is due in theatres in November 2007. The Alibi was released in 2006, but only in Europe as of late. An American release date is still to be determined.

Sensational multi-talented actor I became aware of during most entertaining and compelling "Benny and the Jets" scene in 27 Dresses. This is a remarkable and favorite scene for me. Anybody who has ever sung in the shower, in the car or even at work while listening to fav tunes would relish this scene as I did. Mr James was cheated out of main-man player in Enchanted. His voice, his face,artistically refined features posed with masculine high cheek bones, and a well defined, sculpted nose brings handsome to much higher level. In X-man movies, extra props take away from the actual actors true features. I only realized who he was after his more defined scenes focused on his personal assets rather than fictional. I look forward to seeing more of him on the big screen in roles flaunting his awesome voice. I select my favorite actors from movies listed for general public viewing. Happily married actors with their own children, seem to perform at much more supreme levels.

Smart, funny, charming. And he's gone where few contemporary leading men have gone before. He's done two musicals. And he even sang in the film "27 Dresses" in a very endearing, drunken rendition of B-b-b-benny and the Jets. It was the break-through moment in the film.
A few months back we tracked down the clothes he wore in this scene and added the shirt to our collection. It melts my crusty old heart every time I look at it. James is more than a good actor. He is a multi-dimensional performer.posted 402 days ago -
