Schwarzenegger moved to the United States in September of 1968 and trained at Gold's Gym in Santa Monica under the patronage of Joe Weider. During this time, his 1977 autobiography Arnold: The Education of a Bodybuilder was published. Schwarzenegger's breakthrough film was Conan the Barbarian (1982). As an actor, he is best-known as the title character of director James Cameron's android thriller The Terminator (1984).
